ASAOKA Teruhiko, TAMURA Keiko, MIYAMURA Keita, HATAI Kengo and NINOMIYA Shoichiro represented a bereaved family in the case that Central Japan Railway Company sued the bereaved family for damages arising from the accident that a person with dementia was run over by a train and killed as he trespassed to the railway track from the door at the head of platform. The Supreme Court on March 1, 2016 quashed the judgment of Nagoya High Court for the case and rejected all claims of Central Japan Railway Company on the grounds that his spouse and family members did not fall under a person obligated to supervise the person.

NISHIOKA Seiichiro has joined our firm as a counsel. Until his retirement from President of Hiroshima High Court in September 2014, NISHIOKA had served important positions such as the Chief Judge of Tokyo Family Court, the Presiding Judge of Tokyo District Court, the Chief Judge of Utsunomiya District Court etc., and had been involved in number of lawsuits, including well-known cases, at the forefront of litigation practice.
